    The Audio Production minor is offered through the College of Performing Arts

    The Audio Production minor introduces students to basic processes and making experiences in the field of audio production including the use of a Digital Audio Workstation, tracking live sound, mixing and mastering audio, and running sound reinforcement for live events.

    Curriculum

    This minor requires successful completion of 18 credits. Students generally select one course from each of the subject areas in the chart below.   

    Course availability may vary from semester to semester. Some courses may be in development and offered at a later time. Students seeking to pursue alternative coursework in other subject areas to fulfill the minor should consult with their advisors.

    Learning Outcomes

    • Students will be able to record live sound in a multitrack environment.
    • Students will be able to mix and master a multitrack audio session using a Digital Audio Workstation.
    • Students will be able to provide front of house live sound reinforcement for a small group of live musicians.

    Eligibility

    The Audio Production minor is available to undergraduate degree students across The New School.

    Students can retroactively apply successfully completed courses toward a minor upon declaring. After a student successfully completes a minor's requirements, the minor will appear on the student's academic transcript at graduation.
