Students applying to Eugene Lang College for freshman or transfer status will do so exclusively through the Common Application. Applying through the Common Application online system has several benefits:

Did you know?
As of fall 2010, Eugene Lang College is a testing optional institution. Students are no longer required to submit standardized
test scores (SAT or ACT) as part of the application process. (They
are certainly welcome to submit their scores if they feel the additional
information might be helpful for the admissions review process.)
Our CEEB code for the SAT I is 2521. The code for the ACT is 2828.
Applicants can provide additional information (photos, graded papers, portfolios, etc.) along with required materials. Please note that the volume of applications we receive prevents us from returning materials after the application is reviewed.

Eugene Lang College requires one additional short answer response and written essay along with the Common Application's short answer and essay question responses. Please answer both the short answer and the essay questions below.

- Essay Question:Eugene Lang College was originally known as The Seminar School, marked
by discussion-based classes held around a table where students and
professors gathered to share ideas. At Lang, students are expected to
take an active role in their education. This is your chance to tell us why you feel Lang is a good fit for you. Why Lang? (approximately 250 words)
Lang will accept fee waivers if you have difficulty paying the application fee of $50. The College Board fee waivers or a note from a guidance or college counselor will be acknowledged by the Office of Admission.
