Supplemental Essay Question
Eugene Lang College requires one additional written essay along with the Common Application's short answer and essay question responses. Please answer the essay question below.
- Essay Question: Eugene Lang College was originally known as The Seminar School, marked
by discussion-based classes held around a table where students and
professors gathered to share ideas. At Lang, students are expected to
take an active role in their education. This is your chance to tell us why you feel Lang is a good fit for you. Why Lang? (Approximately 250 words.)
Applying to More Than One Program
In any given term, a student may apply to only ONE department or program within The New School. Applicants who file more than one application in a given semester will be required to withdraw one of the applications, and application fees will NOT be refunded.
Applicants wishing to apply to the BA/BFA Dual Degree Program with either Parsons or Jazz need to complete a single BA/BFA application. Do not submit multiple applications to both Lang and Jazz or Parsons.
Did you know?
Lang will accept fee waivers if you have difficulty paying the application fee of $50. The College Board fee waivers or a note from a guidance or college counselor will be acknowledged by the Office of Admission.
Although it is not required, freshmen and transfer applicants may submit SAT or ACT results. Freshmen Early Entrance applicants may submit PSAT scores if they have not yet taken the SAT. Note: Test scores are required for Home School applicants. The institution code for the SAT is 2521. The code for the ACT is 2828.
Applicants can provide additional information (photos, graded papers, portfolios, etc.) along with required materials. Please note that the volume of applications we receive prevents us from returning materials after the application is reviewed.
