Irene S. Leung is an urbanist specializing in cultural resilience. She is a research and development consultant who works in the nexus of diverse fields such as cultural mapping, creative value chain, cities, and women’s empowerment for nonprofit organizations and grassroots international NGOs.

Since 2005, Irene has been traveling and living in Southeast Asia, where she worked with independent artists and cultural workers. She recently conducted research on the cultural infrastructure in Penang, Malaysia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where she also facilitated the founding of its first community artisan market.

Irene is currently a project consultant for Living Arts City, a new interdisciplinary platform at Parsons The New School of Design, and working in the Huairou Commission‘s global campaigns for grassroots women.
