Faculty Civic Engagement

The Office of Civic Engagement and Social Justice provides consultations and course development assistance to faculty members interested in teaching a civic engagement course or undertaking a community-based research project.  Through consultations and facilitated meetings with potential community partners, CESJ helps faculty apply critical and social justice pedagogies and best practices effectively to their courses while also ensuring that needs of community partners are being addressed.

In addition to course and research support at Lang, The New School is a member institution of three organizations dedicated to civic engagement and social justice in higher education:  Campus Compact, Imagining America, and Project Pericles.  Faculty may take advantage of these organizations’ resources, conferences and award opportunities.  Please refer to their respective websites for further information.
