Alex Schwartz is a professor at the Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy at The New School for Public Engagement. He directs the Urban Policy Lab, an intensive-client oriented course required of all Urban Policy students. He is a former chair of the school’s Department of Urban Policy Analysis and Management. Mr. Schwartz’s principal area of research is housing and community development, including affordable housing programs, community reinvestment, mortgage lending, and community development corporations. He is the author of Housing Policy in the United States, the third edition of which was published by Routledge in 2014. He serves as the Managing Editor for North America for the international journal Housing Studies. His articles have been published in such journals as Cityscape, Economic Development Quarterly, Housing Finance International, Housing Policy Debate, Housing Studies, Journal of Housing and the Built Environment, Journal of the American Planning Association, and Journal of Urban Affairs.Courses Taught:
