Profile
Pat Kelly is a music producer, songwriter, engineer, and partner at Invite Only Studios, NYC’s premier recording and production facility. Raised just outside New York City, Pat discovered his passion for music at a young age when his babysitter introduced him to piano. His musical journey continued when, at 13, he acquired his first set of turntables. Pat quickly immersed himself into turntablism, scratching his way into rock and hip-hop bands as a young teenager.
By 15, he purchased his first drum machine and sampler, learning the art of beat-making and eventually experimenting as a vocalist and rapper. At 18, Pat and his band competed at the legendary Apollo Amateur Night, winning their debut performance. After high school, he began producing drum and bass and hip-hop for Final Phaze Records before teaming up with Craig Piper in 2004 to refine his craft in Englewood, NJ.
In 2009, Pat joined forces with Angelo “Doc” Velasquez, where their combined talents as producers and vocal arrangers led to the creation of Crash Dummies Production. They began their partnership by working with notable artists like Rick Ross, Anthony Hamilton, LL Cool J, and Ludacris. During this time, Pat scored his first feature film, Killer App, and contributed as a composer, mixer, and sound designer for Third Mind Blues, a documentary about Ray Manzarek of The Doors.
In 2018, Pat and Doc expanded their creative vision, founding Invite Only Studios, a 13,000 sq. ft. recording studio, production company, and event space. Since its inception, the studio has become a creative hub for A-list artists, including Mary J. Blige, Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Anderson .Paak, Chloë Bailey, DJ Khaled, HER, Peso Pluma, and Burna Boy. They’ve also collaborated with major brands such as Starbucks, composing and mixing Starbucks’ signature jingle for their annual holiday campaign. They also work with brands like Chase Bank, Nike, Pantene, and Kohls, offering services such as recording, production, and post-production. The studio’s newly added event hall has further elevated its reputation, hosting industry events, music production workshops, and brand activations.
Pat’s exceptional work earned him five Grammy nominations for Mary J. Blige’s Good Morning Gorgeous. He followed this success by co-producing, co-writing, and mixing tracks for her album Gratitude, including the chart-topping single "You Ain’t the Only One" and the poignant "God’s Child."
In 2025, Pat began applying his extensive knowledge of music production as an educator, taking on a professor role at The New School in NYC. Through this position, he will inspire and mentor the next generation of music producers and creatives, further solidifying his role as a leader in the industry.
Through decades of dedication and innovation, Pat Kelly has cemented his place as a visionary in music production, songwriting, and engineering, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music and beyond.
