    Anna Jacobs

    Profile

    Anna K. Jacobs is a Jonathan Larson and Billie Burke Ziegfeld Award-winning composer, lyricist, and book writer. In collaboration with Michael R. Jackson (Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of A STRANGE LOOP), she wrote the music and co-wrote the book for the Drama Desk Award and Lucille Lortel-nominated TEETH, which played a sold out run at Playwrights Horizons, and is transferring to a fall 2024 commercial Off-Broadway run at New World Stages. An original cast recording was released on Yellow Sound Label. Anna’s new stage adaptation of MOANA for Disney Cruise Line will also be debuting in fall 2024 at the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the Disney Treasure.

     

    Anna’s other musicals include POP! (Yale Rep, Pittsburgh City Theatre, Studio Theatre, etc.; book/lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman), ANYTOWN (George Street Playhouse; book by Jim Jack), HARMONY, KANSAS (Diversionary Theatre; book by Bill Nelson), ECHO (Musical Theatre Factory), and STELLA AND THE MOON MAN (Sydney Theatre Company/Theatre of Image; with Richard Tulloch & Adrian Kelly). She contributed music and lyrics to the multi-composer works, WITNESSES (California Center for the Arts) and LETTERS TO THE PRESIDENT (Goodspeed Musicals), and penned the screenplay for THE REAL GEMMA JORDAN (University of Nebraska-Lincoln), which she is now adapting into a stage musical with composer-lyricist, Rob Rokicki. For Grove Entertainment, she is also developing the new musical, A HOUSE WITHOUT WINDOWS, a collaboration with playwright Anna Ziegler about the life and disappearance of child prodigy author, Barbara Newhall Follett.

     

    From 2013-2018, Anna was the founding artistic director of the New York Youth Symphony Musical Theater Songwriting Program. She holds a B.M. (Honors I) from the University of Sydney, an M.F.A. from NYU-Tisch, and also studied at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. www.annakjacobs.com
