    Alice Xue

    Profile

    Alice (Bai) Xue is a PhD Candidate in Music Theory and Analysis at The Graduate Center, CUNY (ABD). She is currently teaching at NYU Steinhardt and Mannes School of Music at The New School. Prior to these appointments, Alice enjoyed teaching at Hofstra University and Temple University. Alice loves all music genres, although her current focus is on form and structure in African music. She has presented her findings at a number of conferences, such as the Society for Music Theory’s 2022 Annual Conference. Beyond academia, Alice is a passionate participant in New York City’s music scene as a trumpet player and pianist. Having performed a variety of genres, she has a particular fondness for musicals and salsa bands.
