Community involvement is extremely low in Lithuania compared with other European countries. In Lithuania, only 1 in 16 volunteer, while the figure stands at 1 in 6 in the OECD as a whole. Other metrics that can be used to measure community involvement, such as voting numbers, suggest the same tendency. Half of young adults ages 15 to 29 say they are not interested in politics, compared with 1 in 4 in the OECD countries. These metrics are reflected in Lithuania's rank as 141st of 167 countries in social capital ratings. COMMUNEO is an organization designed to promote volunteering. It offers businesses the opportunity to involve their employees in powerful social initiatives. The goal is to improve employee retention, provide workers with new skills, and foster a tradition of volunteering in the country. In addition, COMMUNEO offers a centralized platform for NGOs to post volunteering positions and gathers and shares relevant statistics.
