Born in Detroit and having lived in three different regions of the US—and now Paris—Mikaela Brennan’s varied environmental influences have heavily impacted her worldview. Having been enrolled in various and sometimes unconventional learning institutions throughout her school years, Mikaela is passionate about education and strives to create emotionally resonant works using visual language. Also a lifelong athlete, she has a strong sense of self-discipline and believes in the importance of teamwork. Her experimentations with makeup reflect her ideas of personal expression and performed identity. Highly motivated and a passionate learner, Mikaela Brennan would like to pursue a career in publishing or product design as she continues to develop her own design language.

Mikaela Brennan is an American currently residing between Los Angeles and Paris. She has been interested in literature and philosophy from a young age, and is particularly interested in questions surrounding the functions and limitations of language. Her work emphasizes the importance of sentimentality and tactility in design. Her Capstone, Plastic Fruits, exhibits collectable art toys presented as non-consumable objects of consumption, which are accompanied by interactive zines establishing a fanciful universe for the objects via tactile pages and sentimental aesthetics.
