Jordanian and Polish origin and raised in the UAE, Layla has polished her skills throughout her education at Parsons. She extensively developed her construction and draping skills specifically in flou draping. Moreover, she has also explored different aspects such as tailoring and textile manipulations. Layla's ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team is evident in her achievements during partner projects and an internship at the esteemed bridal and evening gown couture house, Hamda Al Fahim.<p>In conclusion she has showcased both her inventive design skills and a rapid learning ability, coupled with a motivated and proactive approach to consistently completing tasks successfully and within deadlines. </p>

This collection questions gender by examining the stereotypical ideas of masculinity and femininity. The stereotypical idea of masculinity is exemplified by the use of the leather jacket which in the 1950s became a symbol of hyper-masculinity. In contrast, ballerina tutus from the 20th century are used as a representation of stereotypical femininity due to their soft and innocent connotation. The two archetypes are combined by gaining inspiration from the 1970 punk movement in Great Britain, using it as a design method and ideology by implementing the decollage aspect and androgynous nature of punk clothing.
