Fabiola Berdiel is Director of Practice-based Learning at the Schools of Public Engagement . Her portfolio includes oversight of the International Field Program, United Nations Summer Study, Remote/Virtual Studios, and other experiential, field and practice-based learning offerings. Fabiola is an urban researcher and community development practitioner. Her research interests include decolonial perspectives on urban citizenship and public space and design thinking as a tool for socioeconomic development. Fabiola has a B.A. in Sociology and Political Science from Sarah Lawrence College, a Master's in International Affairs from The New School, and is Ph.D. candidate at the Public and Urban Policy doctorate at The New School. Fabiola has worked and conducted field research in Argentina, Bosnia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ethiopia, Guatemala, India, Ireland, Israel, Kosovo, Mexico, Namibia, Nepal, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Senegal, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, and Uganda. She is co-founder of DEED: Development through Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Design at The New School.
