    David Marshall

    Profile

    David Marshall has spent over twenty years working on rule of law and human rights, mainly in post-conflict states. His experience includes working in Kosovo, Nepal, South Sudan, Sudan/Darfur and most recently in Iraq where he led the United Nations' efforts in monitoring the trials of ISIL fighters and investigating mass graves. In 2015 he led the United Nations' first human rights investigation into atrocities committed in South Sudan. He has written extensively on the rule of law and human rights, including editing a series of articles on the topic in The International Rule of Law Movement, A Crisis of Legitimacy and the Way Forward (Harvard University Press, 2014). He is a justice adviser to the Government of Canada and a Research Fellow at the Schell Center for International Human Rights at Yale Law School.
