Study of foreign languages, traditionally part of a liberal arts education, is more relevant than ever in the global society taking shape at the beginning of the 21st century. Students at The New School have the opportunity to study more than a dozen modern and classical languages with experienced teachers in small classes that emphasize using the spoken language. The curriculum caters to students at all levels of language proficiency, from absolute beginners looking for conversational or reading proficiency to more advanced students interested in experiencing literature, cinema, and other aspects of world cultures in the original languages.
