School of Constructed Environments

Encompassing a unique confluence of disciplines, Parsons’ School of Constructed Environments (SCE) nurtures tomorrow’s practitioners and guides them in designing socially just, environmentally regenerative, and innovative cities, buildings, interiors, lighting, and products.  We foster the skills, values, and vision vital to creating more integrated, equitable, and delightful worlds

School Highlights

Regenerative Practices

At SCE, faculty and students embrace sustainable and renewable design systems. You reimagine the constructed environment through the use of regenerative materials and practices, examining the circular ecologies and economies that will form the basis of our livable future.

The City as Your Classroom

New York is the center of your exploration and studies. You study with a diverse community of students and faculty, using the city as a source of inspiration and a laboratory for your work. Collaborations with MoMA, the Center of Architecture, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) and WantedDesign, and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, put you in contact with groundbreaking ideas and practitioners.

Learning Through Doing

You work collaboratively with fellow students in open design studios, learning through hands-on exploration and making. You test new ideas and projects using the school’s fabrication shops, computing labs, and Light Lab and the Angelo Donghia Healthier Materials Library.
