    Advising

During this part of the course, I was challenged to design a pocket-size artifact for my assigned peer, Naya Madi, to serve the same function as a “business card.”

In order to best capture her aesthetic and personality, I conducted an interview at her apartment. Balancing the element of artistic choice and practical function, I settled with the idea of making a key that symbolized her independence and metaphorically the memory Naya and others shared. I incorporated her first name in arabic (read from right to left) on the edge of the keys; if one examines the key horizontally, they would be able to read NAYA. As my ideas developed, I started to create prototypes in Sketchup.
