Willow Hayward

I am a multimedia artist from Illinois. My work is research driven and explores the intersection of science and art—specifically, how biometric data can be used as a creative tool. My thesis project, a still small voice, is an installation incorporating pieces in which people’s brainwave data have been translated into visual form. Using technology that reads neural activity, participants create unique artworks through their own brainwaves. The goal of the project is to make the invisible visible and to render subconscious internal experiences in a tangible form. This installation is both intimate and immersive. It invites people to reflect on their inner worlds by connecting with their biological data in a creative way. For me, it’s about revealing the body’s hidden potential for expression and looking at how the self can merge with digital systems in meaningful, human-centered ways.
