I Am the Moss Lady: A Self-Portrait In Stories

Art, Media, and Technology (BFA)

Tessa Makai
I Am the Moss Lady: A Self-Portrait In Stories explores the body as a landscape—an archive upon which life can be inscribed. Stop-motion 2D vignettes are layered over a paper sculpture of the artist’s body, which is slowly overtaken by plants. Through materiality, motion, and sound, I Am the Moss Lady investigates self-portraiture as a means of encapsulating not just an individual but also their experiences, environment, and community.
