  • Jay Jaxon: A biographical study and media discourse analysis reinstating a fashion designer into fashion history

    Fashion Studies (MA)

    Advising

Rachel Fenderson was born and raised in Queens, New York, to Jamaican parents, and received her BA in English Literature from Hofstra University.

Her thesis focuses on reintroducing fashion designer Jay Jason Jaxon into Fashion History, American History, and French History. The study of Jay Jaxon as an American couturier, fashion and costume designer, not only fills a gap into the fashion historiography of the 20th and 21st centuries, but it also contributes to the critical discussion on diversity within the fashion industry.
