Fashion Studies (MA)
Where were you born, and where did you grow up?
I’m from New Orleans, Louisiana, home of the best people and the best food.
Have you done an internship? If so, where? What was your experience like?
I have worked as a program assistant to the MA Fashion Studies program in the past. I worked on their social media and blog posts, and I helped put together that year’s final exhibition at the Mona Bismarck American Center. This October, I am extremely happy to announce that I will be interning at Palais Galliera, the fashion museum of Paris. I will be working under the Public Relations Department, translating French content into English.
Does Paris feel like home? If so, how did you make it your own? What kind of challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?
I am very much at home in Paris! I love how walkable the city is and the sheer amount of museums. To make it my own, I’ve had to bring spice mixes back from New Orleans — my life wouldn’t be the same without soul food. I often hold dinner parties showcasing New Orleans dishes. My main problem is adapting to the cold temperatures! This is the first time in my life I’ve had to buy a real winter coat, which I found at a brocante (open air flea market). However, there are roasted chestnuts and Christmas markets to look forward to in the winter — it’s one of my favorite times in Paris.
