Born in the US, and grew up in Schenectady New York, Sophia is a fashion designer dedicated to her craft and exploring new ideas. She can adapt to new experiences with ease and enjoys seeing new perspectives. Through completing this degree, she has learned time management, perseverance, and teamwork. Besides fashion, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, cinema travelling, and cooking. Sophia is excited to enter the industry to continue to feed her brain with knowledge.
Thesis Title: Served
My thesis collection explores the class relationship between tennis players and waitresses who exist in the same space, that is a country club, representing opposing classes. And how, in a way, their uniforms are costumes because of the performative aspects of daily life in both occupations. There is a blurred line between sport and service since they are both actions that are looked at as “for the viewer” and it is seen as a performance.
