Melina Ives is a multimedia artist-designer-curator who is originally from Northern California. Her work unfolds the nature of interconnectedness through research oriented towards the realms of psychology, ecology, quantum theories, and sociology. Ives works with text, video, craft, sculpture, dance, sound, and mapping; her main form of expression compounding in multimedia exhibitions or revelatory evidence-presentations. She weaves together concepts from systems-oriented design theories and urban ecology. Trails of curiosity emerge through her scrutiny of social structures and interest in collective attention, all rooted in her enthusiasm for natural building techniques. By engaging such practices, Ives believes it’s possible to forge reprieve and community in an ever-complexifying world.
