Profile
Miriam Josi is a Swiss-born designer, researcher, and educator based in Paris, exploring regenerative design through material experimentation. She is the co-founder of Aléa Work, a design studio founded with Stella Lee Prowse, dedicated to developing new fabrication processes with living systems and transforming how materials are used, understood, and valued.
Josi holds a Master of Science in Nature-Inspired Design from ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris and a BFA in Product Design from Parsons The New School for Design in New York. Her work bridges design, art, biology, and craft to prototype new forms of bio-inclusive making.
Through Aléa, she collaborates with cultural institutions, scientists, and designers. She teaches at Parsons Paris, leads workshops at Domaine de Boisbuchet, and has lectured at institutions such as the London Design Museum, CIVA Brussels, HEAD Geneva, and Design Academy Eindhoven. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris, BASE Milano, Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, and CID Grand-Hornu in Belgium.
