Dr. Marco Pecorari teaches and conducts research on Fashion History and Theory. He obtained a PhD in Fashion Studies at 'The Centre for Fashion Studies', Stockholm University where he also lectured until 2015.
His research explores practices of knowledge creation in fashion, particularly looking at the role of archives, exhibitions, performances in the construction of cultural heritage. His monograph Fashion Remains. Rethinking Fashion Ephemera in the Archive is forthcoming with Bloomsbury Academic (2019). Marco has recently published a chapter entitled “Beyond Garments: Reorienting the Practice and Discourse of Fashion Curation” in the book Fashion Curating Critical Practice in the Museum and Beyond (Bloomsbury, 2018) and “Liveness: Performance as a Fashion Curatorial Act" in the book Fashion Curating: Understanding Fashion Through Exhibition (HEAD Publisher, 2017). He also writes about art, design, and fashion for various magazines and journals, and he sits on the editorial board of the scientific journal Fashion Theory. The Journal of Dress, Body & Cultural.
