Carlos Franklin Sanabria

Profile

Carlos Franklin is a visual artist who focuses in documentary and archive-based forms. He combines new media, video, installation, drawing as well as protean performative projects. Franklin is interested in how the artistic practice reveals historical and political discourses. Franklin explores semiotics in order to study aesthetics and representation paradigms and their use in meaning construction and testimony restitution.

 

His work has been exhibited in numerous festivals, museums and centres of art including the Centre Georges Pompidou and Grand Palais in Paris, the Saatchi Gallery in London, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma – MACRO, Fesitval d’Aix en Provence, among others.

Franklin holds an MFA from Les Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains, France, and a BFA from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia.
