The MS in Economics provides a solid grounding in the history and contemporary development of political economy and, through education in contemporary quantitative tools of analysis, extends this training to include a significant part of PhD-level analytical coursework. Some graduates use this degree to advance to competitive PhD programs, while others immediately apply their exceptional economic expertise directly to professional careers.
Entering students work with an individual faculty advisor. This advisor, together with the departmental student advisor, introduces them to the curriculum as a whole and helps them to formulate the program that best suits their interests and needs.
STEM Eligibility for International Applicants
This program is STEM-designated. After graduating, eligible F-1 students in this program can apply for an additional 24 months of Optional Practical Training at the end of their Post-Completion OPT.
