Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance

The four-year undergraduate Instrumental Performance BM program offers cutting-edge classical music instruction while providing a foundation of high-level technical training.

It prepares the student for real-world opportunities in the arts in a variety of settings: traditional, entrepreneurial, and cross-disciplinary.

Program Details

  • Private Lessons
  • Techniques of Music (Music Theory, Ear Training, Dictation, Piano)
  • Small and Large Ensembles
  • Performance Courses and Electives
  • Guided Electives (Courses in Arranging, Composition, Entrepreneurship, Improvisation, Pedagogy, Technology)
  • Liberal Arts Courses (Music History in Context, Electives at The New School)

Performing Arts Core

Students also engage in a series of cross-disciplinary courses through the Performing Arts Core program, which includes a combination of required and elective courses that all undergraduate students at the College of Performing Arts participate in. These courses explore subjects including improvisation and collaboration, the whole human artist, socially engaged artistry, and technology and experimentation.
