Faran Krentcil

Profile

Faran Krentcil (she / her) is a fashion journalist and critic with a deep focus on the intersection between aesthetics, technology, and youth culture. A contributing editor at Elle since 2013, she is also a contributing writer at the Wall Street Journal, where she explores the origins of current fashion trends and their economic and cultural ripple effects. An essayist for Vogue and a runway critic for Harper's Bazaar, Faran is also a commercial illustrator whose portfolio includes work for Bergdorf Goodman, Ray-Ban, and Penguin publishing group. She has worked at magazines such as Nylon, InStyle, and Teen Vogue, and consulted for brands including Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs, and IMG Fashion. Faran is the founding editor of Fashionista.com and a writer on Capo, the album by Harlem rap legend Jim Jones. She is a graduate of Duke University. She likes her Sketchers, but she, like, loves her Prada backpack.
