Two-time Faculty Opportunity Award recipient Anjali Khosla has been involved with The New School's Journalism + Design program for several years. Back in 2014, she worked with J+D faculty at IDEO to help shape the News, Narrative, and Design curriculum. She later served as an "embed" in the program, advising students on reporting projects and consulting for The New School Free Press.
Prior to joining the J+D faculty full time in 2018, Anjali was the editor of Fast Company Digital. Before that, she worked for the New York Daily News. Her reporting and other nonfiction writing has been published in a number of publications, including The Times of London, The Guardian, Gossamer, Air Mail, Nieman Journalism Lab, the New York Times Local: East Village, Rhapsody, the Rochester Post-Bulletin, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and Hemispheres, where she currently writes a monthly business series. She has discussed her reporting as a guest on a number of radio and TV channels, including the BBC, CBS Live, Fox News, and KCRW. In 2014, she was part of a team that won the American Society of Magazine Editors' Magazine of the Year award, and she is also the recipient of the 2020 New York Press Club award for travel writing.
Anjali’s poetry and fiction has appeared in Tarpaulin Sky, Glitter Pony, SHAMPOO, and other journals. In March of 2019, her chapbook and chatbot project, Ghostbot, was published by Nor By Press / Wendy's Subway; it was a finalist for the 2020 Eric Hoffer Award. She recently completed a summer writing residency at Arteles Creative Center in Haukijärvi, Finland.
She holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and an M.A. in Journalism from New York University. She has taught fiction and poetry courses at UMass and a variety of journalism courses at NYU and Columbia University.
