Connection to the New School’s wireless network is available throughout campus using several SSIDs, or wireless network names:
Degree or Credit-Seeking Students
Continuing Education Students
Students, faculty, and staff can connect to ‘newschool’
at any time while on the academic campus; in the residence halls, students may connect to 'newschool-housing.'
New School alumni can connect to ‘newschool-alumni’
while on campus, and guests can request access to ‘newschool-guest’
while on campus. Visitors whose organizations are members of eduroam
can connect to ‘eduroam’
using credentials from their home institution while on the New School campus.
Wireless access is available in most New School academic spaces and in many other spaces throughout campus.
Use your WiFi-enabled devices (laptops, mobile phones, tablets) to access New School network services and/or the Internet while on campus.
‘newschool’ and ‘newschool-housing’ use IEEE 802.1x, a secure, encrypted protocol for accessing wireless networks. When your computer or device is in range of one of these Wi-Fi choices, simply select it and log in using your New School NetID and password. Under most circumstances, your computer or device will remember your choice and sign you onto the network automatically every time it comes into range.
‘newschool-guest’ and ‘newschool-alumni’ are unsecured, “open” networks and must be signed onto manually through a web browser-based login page.
See individual pages for specific information about each SSID, including connection instructions.
