I am a longstanding and expert media and First Amendment lawyer who has had the great privilege of working at some of the finest journalism organizations and on some of the most cutting edge work, including spending eight years as the general counsel at The New Yorker, and then three years working on national security journalism with the Snowden papers at The Intercept.  At the New School, I teach Media, Corporate Responsibilty and the Law, and Media Ethics.

Currently, SVP and Assistant General Counsel, Media, Univision. Previously: General Counsel of Gizmodo Media Group, LLC (2017-2019); General Counsel of First Look Media/The Intercept & Field of Vision (2014-2017); General Counsel of The New Yorker (2006 -2014); Editorial Counsel of Forbes (2001-2006); Senior Media Counsel, NBC (1996-2001).  Member and former chair, NYSBA Media Law Committee; Director and former chair, Media Law Resource Center; Director, Yale Daily News Foundation.  Frequent speaker and columnist on Media Law Issues (newyorker.com).
