    Ilaina Goldwert

    Profile

    Ilaina Goldwert (Lainie) holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Psychological Anthropology from the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on the relationship between culture and psychology, particularly the dynamic between therapeutic processes and sociocultural context. Her doctoral dissertation explored how yoga works as a cultural practice, locating its effects at the intersection of sensory experience and meaning. Other research and clinical interests culture and emotional expression; and integrating mindfulness with psychoanalytic approaches to therapy.

    Dr. Goldwert is a practicing psychodynamic psychotherapist.  She also holds an MFA in Poetry from the New School and is a member of the Society for Psychological Anthropology, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Medical Anthropology.
