  • As a master's student in Public and Urban Policy, you have the flexibility in your degree to address your unique interests and goals. You can choose in-depth study in one or more policy areas or methodologies or work with a faculty advisor to select courses from multiple fields. You have access to graduate courses across The New School, and we encourage you to explore electives in other programs and schools. The path you create within or across fields will provide you with skills that can enhance your résumé by communicating expertise to potential employers.

In addition to the subject areas described below, there are also many courses available through the Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management and Management degree programs at The New School. You can also dedicate all or some of your electives to pursuing one of the university’s graduate minors.

The subject areas below are informal paths within the Public and Urban Policy MS, which do not appear on students' transcripts or diplomas.
