Siqi (Rita) Song

I’m interested in the dream experience and how dreams and memories overlap and reflect each other. I’m exploring the space between the real and the surreal, the conscious and the unconscious, as well as the physical and the illusive through my work. I collect these dream fragments by imitating and making marks of the subconscious activities that happen beyond reality. My recent practice includes videos that focus on material changes, repetitive or continuous behaviors, and doubled realities. I explore the illusory, transitory, untouchable, layered images followed by the logic of stream of consciousness. I’m curious about how the scenarios in dreams are reconstructed and narrated while awake.
