My project is a book that explores my search for silence. By investigating various places in upstate New York and Ontario, I am attempting to reflect on the silence that formed my childhood. Silence is memory, silence is home, silence is the space between words in conversation, somehow holding more weight than the words themselves. Through written fragments, black and white photographs of small towns, as well as portraits of my family, I am exploring that silence is amorphous, vast, and can act as a tool to recall and recount in an attempt to hold onto what has been lost.
