Boyang (Bit) Huang

This project is a series of progressive hand-on workshops intended to raise awareness of cultural appropriation caused by designers' unconscious biases. I developed these workshops to train design education students to be more culturally sensitive and respectful. Every workshop builds up the materials and knowledge from the previous one. As it progresses, the discussion goes deeper and exposes cultural appropriation, misuse, and overuse. It invites participants from diverse backgrounds to recognize, identify, and understand cultural elements, and challenges students to reflect on their own creative process.
