Yinglun Zhang

I am a fashion designer and a dancer. I work closely with the body, exploring the convergence of fashion and immersive performance—seeing the mind and body as one. The design system behind my collection consists of three elements: the essence, the movement, and the performance. The essence is the body. The garment flows with the body, creating movement. The movements become the performance—exploring improvisation, consciousness, and the philosophy of presence. In my collection, I experiment with poetic motifs. I create my own prints and bring together a team of artists to collaborate in the production. When still, the garments produce the impression of ice—pure and sharp. When the garments move, they create the effect of water—smooth and soft. In Collection, I explore resilience, contrasts, neutrality, and strength in an ode to dancers and to those who pursue the way of art.
