THE INTERMITTENT SOUND AND SILENCE

Advising

Merging Cityscape and Soundscape into a Transportation Hub In physics, sound is theoretically produced by vibrations of particles; in real life, sound is produced by interactions between humans or man-made machines. Transportation is the one type of machine on the site of Marble Hill that cannot be ignored. Interactions and collisions of human flow and multiple infrastructure systems bring unique characteristics to the site.

Sound is intangible. This project aims to visualize sound as a tangible form. Using sound as both an analytical tool and hint for pockets of space at Marble Hill, the Intermittent Sound and Silence is proposing a hybrid of practical solutions for noise pollution and poetic experiences of sound in the infrastructure system.
