Patagonia is a company that specializes in outdoor apparel and equipment but lacks a hospitality presence. My project is a design for the Peak Hotel, a sustainable hotel for Patagonia, located at 66 West 12th Street and 65 West 11th Street in New York City. Patagonia operates according to eco-friendly principles. In 2018, the company launched Patagonia Action Works, a digital platform created with the aim of connecting people concerned about ecology with environmental organizations. This hotel is designed to support Patagonia’s environmental and social initiatives by offering grassroots activists a learning and networking center. The plan brings nature inside the main building, in alignment with the values of the brand. An atrium containing a natural biome offers guests a natural environment in which to escape from the city. The design of the guest rooms was also inspired by the concept of bringing the outdoors indoors. Solar panels on the roof provide electricity and rainwater is harvested to supply the hotel’s needs.
