    Responding to the once theatrical Union Square plan from the 1800s, the Maggie Center is designed to acknowledge the vulnerabilities of people affected by cancer in their daily lives. Through its instinctive exposure of light, acoustics, and visibility, this refractive mould works to distort any dominant external elements it interacts with on the site where Mount Sinai Medical Center meets Union Square East.
