Even in the Darkest Hour
This series of photographs were taken during solitary journeys I make every night. Wandering around in enveloping darkness heightens tangible anxiety rooted in the danger and the uncertainty of being a voyeur. I am curious to capture the change in character between the mundanity of day and the mystery of night. Objects drifting through the air, reducing to ash, and then into nothingness represent a simultaneous process of destruction. The remnants float away into ether, with nothing left to show except these images. It is also a personal, cathartic ceremony. The connection between darkness of voyeurism and the idea of nothingness expand upon my implications of mu (無) in modernity, the unanswerable questions of pure human awareness.
