Nava Collective: Envisioning a Centralized Online Marketplace for Upcycling Artists
Nava Collective is a sustainable fashion concept I created to address an industry dynamic I have consistently observed: streetwear artists working at the grassroots level and being overlooked, underpaid, or co-opted by larger brands. My project proposes a hyperlocal business model supported by a digital platform that sources original garments directly from streetwear creators and supports makers through ethical marketing, immersive brand storytelling, and lean production practices.
At its core, Nava is about flipping the traditional supply chain. Instead of extracting creativity from the margins and packaging it as luxury, Nava retains the origin community's authorship, credit, and profit. Think of the model as a hybrid of a decentralized fashion label and a cultural exchange partner, in which each piece is made by real people with stories and a stake in their own success.
I designed the platform to serve as a discovery space and an operational backbone offering artists tools for pricing, distributing, and storytelling about their work free of predatory systems and confusing branding jargon. I also explored guerrilla marketing strategies and lean-margin economics to keep the model both scrappy and scalable.
Nava is my way of asking: What if streetwear weren’t a byproduct of a luxury pipeline but the product of its own center of gravity?
