Define Queen

Advising

Are we throwing femininity under the bus as the gay community strives for equality? Being gay is about bringing together the masculine and feminine. It is an act of challenging the traditional gender roles. The rising backlash against femininity is problematic to gay culture. DEFINE QUEEN is a book that celebrates the feminine in gay culture. Queen symbolizes a powerful female who, against all odds, is able to rise above patriarchal society. Within the gay community, the title denotes an exceptional individual with a fearless personality who takes charge of their identity. A Queen embraces femininity and does not conform to the patriarchal standard of masculinity. This book includes both surveys and interviews asking gay men what the word Queen mean to them. DEFINE QUEEN is a visual exploration of femininity in gay culture and is, above all, unapologetically gay. http://shaobohan.com/#/definequeen/
