Taking The Next Step
Set in a haunting, dialogue-free world, my thesis project, Taking the Next Step, is a short animated film that explores change, memory, and emotional rebirth through the eyes of a long-imprisoned man. Told entirely through environmental storytelling, the film follows a prisoner’s surreal escape from confinement—not through brute force, but through a moment of quiet realization.
Created as a thesis project, Taking the Next Step examines the emotional and narrative power of space and atmosphere in the absence of characters and dialogue. Made with Blender and After Effects, the film is a visual meditation on the courage it takes to change—and how even in solitude, transformation is possible.
