Fiel Guhit, Tianyi Sun

Primer-01 FROM_LISTENERS is an installation that presents the notion of "generating" as a process that creates nothing new—only a recursive narrative of the past. My collaborator, Tianyi Sun, and I used image recognition, image-to-text generation, and voice reproduction to create a multiplicity of sounds and voices, sonic fragments flowing through an interlocking system of human and electronic receivers and emitters that respond to our desire to make sense of a whole and its parts. The installation represents an electronic ekphrasis testing the capacity of language to trace the contours of the material world, of bodies and objects.
