Prabal Gurung

AAS Fashion Design graduate Prabal Gurung’s glamorous style has a worldwide following that includes former First Lady Michelle Obama and Demi Moore. In 2011, Gurung was the winner of the CFDA/Swarovski Award for Womenswear and a finalist for a National Design Award, given by Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; in 2010, he was a runner-up for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.

Advising

Before launching his line in 2009, he worked under Cynthia Rowley and served as design director for Bill Blass. After learning fashion basics in India and London, Gurung came to Parsons in 1999. There he refined his vision and deepened his mastery of the craft. “It was a crucial time for me in my career,” says Gurung. Gurung has collaborated with some of fashion’s most popular brands, including J.Crew, Target, and MAC Cosmetics. His work is currently featured in WWD, Farfetch, Vogue, and other top fashion media outlets.
