Poppy Tingley

Fenced Flock in a Tizzy Eating a Fizzy Lollipop is an ode to playgrounds told through hand-drawn animation and sculpture. The installation consists of two four-foot-tall carved soft foam and felt characters in a playground. The animation is set as a backdrop to bring the felted characters to life. I aimed to capture a sense of childhood innocence within the chaos of play, adventure, and growing up. I am inspired by nonsense and the sensitivities inherent in human personalities. My fascination with archival sound has fueled my process, through which I pick apart mannerisms, dialect and expressions to create my characters.
