Advising
I grew up in Chile, a daughter of South Korean immigrants. Everyone reminded me that I was from somewhere else. Kachi Maul is the name of my father's hometown. I visited once. When I asked people where it was, only the older people knew about it. Kachi Maul is an installation that holds together the attempt of constructing a landscape and documenting a way of life that I have no possibility of meeting. It reflects my wish for this place to not disappear. I gave myself the freedom to narrate and give visual form to memories that are not mine, and in the process became a storyteller.
