Off Grid Assemblies: Guide to Electricity in Remote Regions on Turtuk, India

This project is a design for an affordable energy kit developed in a pilot project. I designed the kit in collaboration with the Balti community of Turtuk, a remote village in the region of Ladakh in India. During the harsh winters, when temperatures drop to –20°C, electricity is available in Turtuk only between 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. The pilot project was conducted to assess the feasibility of making turbines to address this problem.
