Water to the People to the Water
Dealing with the most polluted waterway in New York, the Gowanus Canal, my project proposes a new waterfront architecture scheme designed to engage users with the waterfront landscape. The project questions the location and operation of the paradigmatic hard-edge waterfront and poses itself as a filter between city, water, landscape, and people. This softer waterfront architecture calls into question the high-end developments being proposed on the canal and imagines something different: a landscape that serves, protects, and provides for the people.
